Simulation of 1500 °C Thermal Shock for Novel Structural Thermal/Environmental Barrier Coatings System

In recent years, with the development of SiC composites in aero-engine hot-end components, environmental barrier coatings (EBCs) have received extensive attention. Moreover, order to elevate service temperature, it is a developing trend apply thermal (TBCs) low conductivity on EBCs coating system form thermal/environmental (T/EBCs). However, combination high coefficient expansion (CTE) TBCs CTE often leads premature failure due excessive mismatch stress. novel structural embedded micro-agglomerated particles (EMAP TBC) by using atmospheric plasma spraying (APS) process has brought hope solve this problem its elastic modulus. Therefore, study, an innovative EMAP Gd2Zr2O7 T/EBCs Gd2Zr2O7/Yb2Si2O7/Si) under 1500 °C flame shock was simulated and systematically studied substrate. The results showed that much lower stress than conventional Gd2Zr2O7/Yb2Si2O7/Si system. Furthermore, when thickness each layer varies, meet insulation requirements Yb2Si2O7 reduce stress, recommend being about 100 μm. Meanwhile, thicknesses Si layers can be set as large needed. addition, increase Yb2SiO5 doping content intermediate layer, suffers greater risk spalling
